Most piezoelectric materials are not interactive with visible light, meaning that their band gaps beyond the photon energies of part light spectrum. The first narrow gap (1.1 eV, same as silicon) ferroelectric material based on oxide perovskite structure has been achieved by doping Ni B-sites KNbO 3 and paring 2+ ions oxygen vacancies to form defect dipoles ease band-band transition. This engineered also proved be piezoelectric. Ni-doping strategy for engineering successfully applied other compositions. As a result, several simultaneously good piezoelectricity visible-range have developed. Such photoresponsive piezoelectrics potential applications in opto-electrical dual-source actuators, single-material multi-sensors multi-source energy harvesters. mini review focuses works simultaneous tuning gap, which previously discussed an individual topic existing reviews.
